The cinema chain in Australia and New Zealand, Event Cinemas, has revealed what could be the official run time for Star Wars: Rogue One.
If you go to the Event Cinemas website listing for Star Wars: Rogue One, it clearly shows that the movie runs for 133 minutes. This means it’s 2 hours and 13 minutes long.
To put this in perspective, it’s the fourth longest Star Wars movie in history. Attack of the Clones is the longest movie at 142 minutes. Next up it’s Revenge of the Sith which is 140 minutes long. In third place is The Force Awakens which had a run time of 136 minutes.
Rogue One is fourth equal with The Phantom Menace as the latter movie is also 133 minutes long. A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi have run times of 121 minutes, 124 minutes and 131 minutes respectively. The shortest film in the franchise is the animated The Clone Wars movie which is only 98 minutes long.
Just over 2 hours long is usually the sweet spot for movie goers. It’s not too long or too short. Not to mention it allows for movies to be shown more times each day. The studio will lose money if session times aren’t repeated due to how long a movie might be.
