A bartender from Tampa is getting a lot of attention online after she talked about the things customers do that really bug her. Cassandra Michelle works at a dive bar in Tampa and made a TikTok video about her biggest complaints. The video has gotten more than 31,000 views so far.
In the video, Cassandra doesn’t hold back about what annoys her at work. “These are things that bother me as a bartender that probably are not that deep. But they piss me the f— off,” she says right at the start.
According to Bro Bible, one thing that really gets on her nerves is when people ask if they can charge their phones behind the bar. She thinks this is something customers should handle on their own. “Obviously, the charging of anything kinda bothers me because you can go on Amazon and spend $15 on a portable charger,” she says in the video. “I’m not your babysitter. Like, I’m your bartender.”
These complaints are actually pretty fair
A lot of people on TikTok agreed that bartenders shouldn’t have to watch over people’s stuff while they’re trying to work.
Cassandra lists five different things that customers do wrong. The first one is when people hold up two fingers like a rock on hand sign when they want to order two drinks. She thinks they should just use their pointer finger and middle finger like normal people do.
Another thing that bothers her is when customers try to pay with Apple Pay but haven’t unlocked their phone yet. This means she has to keep coming back to them so they can do Face ID or type in their passcode, which wastes her time.
The thing that makes her the most angry is when people order their drinks the wrong way around. They say the mixer first and then the alcohol, which confuses her. “Oh my God. This one gets me going every f – – time. Ordering a drink backwards,” she explains. “Cran vodka or like a soda water tequila. Like, what the f –. I’m not– I cannot comprehend it.”
Her last big complaint is about customers who don’t get out of her way when she needs to go to the bathroom. “Not getting out of my way when I need to go to bathroom. I need to get back behind the bar,” she says. “Like, Susie, move. Like, I need to pee.” She explains that she already holds it in for way too long during her shift, and she’s working on the clock, so she needs to be fast. If people make her wait in line like everyone else, it just makes things worse for everybody at the bar.
Some of what Cassandra says lines up with what people who know about bar manners have been saying for years. Laura Thompson works at a bar called Old Timers in Brooklyn and says customers need to remember that bartenders are working professionals trying to make a living.
Another source called Food Republic says the space behind a bar is small and needed for work, so people shouldn’t put their personal stuff there.
The viral TikTok has got people talking more about how customers should act in bars and restaurants.
A lot of people left comments on Cassandra’s video saying they totally understand where she’s coming from. One person wrote, “I have been using the call ‘WORKING’ anytime I need to get through the crowd and surprisingly it helps a bunch.” Another commenter said, “What do you have on draft?” One viewer added, “My favorite is when they have a big order and think I forgot a drink sorry I don’t have 8 hands.”
