‘These companies are legit cancelling themselves’: Shopper reveals what Del Monte put inside can labeled ‘Fresh Cut Whole Green Beans’

Those are neither beans, nor greens.

A woman was making dinner when she opened a can of green beans and stopped. What she found inside wasn’t what the label said it should be. And she soon found out she wasn’t the only one dealing with this problem.

According to Bro Bible, TikTok user @a.haphazard.day posted a short video showing herself opening a second can of Del Monte green beans she bought at Walmart. She wanted to prove the first can wasn’t just a one-time mistake. The video shows the label clearly reading “Fresh Cut Whole Green Beans.” But when she spins the can around for the camera, viewers can see what’s actually inside: sliced beets.

Her video got over 515,200 views and more than 2,500 comments. Many viewers were shocked, and some said the same thing happened to them too. It’s baffling to see an established brand like Del Monte doing this.

Other shoppers are finding beets in their green bean cans

Some users were also surprised to see the recent decline in Del Monte’s product quality. “What is going on over at del monte??? I just saw someone open two cans of cranberry and it was just water inside,” one person wrote.

People also joked about the mix-up. “Del Monte: Nothing BEETS a jet2 holiday,” one person wrote. Another asked if anyone opened a can of beets to see if green beans were inside those instead. “These companies are legit cancelling themselves,” someone else said.

Several users also pointed the finger at food regulation authorities. “consequences of food safety deregulation, thank the government! all for big corporations to pocket an extra dollar,” one person wrote. This isn’t the first time major food brands have faced labeling issues.

This isn’t just one isolated case. Across TikTok, several shoppers say they opened cans of Del Monte Fresh Cut Whole Green Beans and found beets or sometimes other vegetables. One person said they discovered beets instead of green beans while preparing Thanksgiving dinner, which ruined their meal plan. Another claimed they found corn inside a can labeled as green beans.

@Del Monte Fresh Produce. Trying to finish up my Thanksgiving prep and was supposed to be making green beans wrapped in bacon. These are not green beans! Two different cans and in the trash it went! #thanksgivingprep #thanksgivingdisaster #wronglabel #viralvideo #fypツ

The reports don’t show how widespread the problem is, but many people are having similar experiences. This suggests something is going wrong during production or labeling. Similar to what happened with Reese’s label changes, consumers are discovering their food products don’t match expectations. This issue also comes right after the FDA announced a recall of almost 200,000 Good & Gather Cut Green Beans, which were also made by Del Monte, because of contamination concerns.
