The studio behind ‘Silent Hill 2’ remake is working on something for Nintendo, and says it’s doing what no horror game has done before

This better be worth the hype.

Bloober Team, the studio that made the Silent Hill 2 remake, Cronos, and Layers of Fear, has shared new details about its secret Nintendo game called Project M. The company is keeping most information hidden, but they dropped some interesting hints about what players can expect.

According to Video Games Chronicle, CEO Piotr Babieno said the game will appeal to fans of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness. “What I can say is this: fans of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Limbo, and Eternal Darkness will immediately feel at home.,” Babieno revealed. “That said, Project M introduces a bold twist; one that no horror game has ever explored before. This is a vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”

Babieno admitted it’s very difficult for him to keep the project secret, but said it’s still too early to reveal everything. However, he promised fans will get the first official details very soon. The CEO described Project M as a game where horror fans will feel comfortable right away. But there’s a major twist that makes it different from anything else. He said this unique feature has never been explored in any horror game before, and it can only happen on Nintendo’s system.

The game promises a horror experience never seen before

Bloober first mentioned Project M in a Polish interview last summer. Back then, Babieno said the team is working with some of the best Nintendo game creators in the world, so they can’t just make an average game. The studio has proven its horror expertise through the Silent Hill series chronologically.

The studio founder is a huge Nintendo fan. He actually started Bloober Team because he wanted to make games for Nintendo. When asked which classic franchise he’d want to work on without any limits, Babieno mentioned Eternal Darkness again.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem came out in 2002 for GameCube. Silicon Knights developed it, and the game featured stories and characters from different time periods. Its most famous feature was sanity effects that messed with players’ minds during gameplay.

Babieno said he would love to work on Eternal Darkness since it’s one of his favorite horror games ever. He already got to work on Silent Hill, which was another dream project, despite some entries receiving mixed reception. He also mentioned it would be amazing to make a horror game starring Samus Aran or create a darker version of Link’s adventures.
