World of Warcraft recently added a housing feature, and Blizzard paired it with a Pinterest integration that lets players share screenshots of their in-game homes. However, the rollout has hit an unexpected problem; players are getting their Pinterest accounts banned.
The housing feature is set to officially launch with the Midnight expansion on March 2, but early access players have already been decorating their virtual homes. As part of the celebration, Blizzard introduced an in-game item called the Pin-o-Matic Camera, which lets players upload screenshots directly to Pinterest. Using it also rewards players with an in-game Feat of Strength and the Pin-o-Matic toy.
According to Dexerto, the problem started almost right away, with players reporting that their Pinterest accounts were being suspended or banned shortly after linking them to WoW and uploading a screenshot. Complaints began spreading across community forums and Reddit threads, suggesting this is a widespread issue rather than an isolated one.
Pinterest bans linked to the new WoW integration appear to be hitting long-time users the hardest
One user said their Pinterest account, which they had held for over ten years, was suspended after sharing “one single picture” of their new World of Warcraft house. The ban came despite them never having posted anything on the platform before that. Players who want to get the most out of the game while waiting for a fix might want to look into the best classes for WoW Classic Hardcore to keep themselves busy in the meantime.
Another player had an even worse experience, stating, “I made an entirely new account that was specific for my WoW housing, and they banned all three of my accounts.” This suggests the issue may be affecting multiple connected accounts at once.
Many players have tried to appeal the bans, but so far those efforts have not been successful. The exact reason behind the suspensions is still unclear, adding to the confusion. Midnight is just one chapter in a long story – you can check out every World of Warcraft expansion in order to see how far the game has come since its early days.
One user speculated that Pinterest may have “forgotten to notify their third-party spam filter service of the change,” meaning the new integration could be accidentally triggering spam detection systems that are not yet aware of the WoW partnership. Blizzard has acknowledged the issue. For now, players who are worried about losing their Pinterest accounts may want to hold off on using the Pin-o-Matic Camera until the problem is resolved.
