The White House Correspondent’s Dinner has taken social media by storm for all the wrong reasons. It was supposed to be a peaceful event, but a sudden shooting turned it into chaos, with several notable figures, including President Donald Trump, evacuated from the venue. While the person who is accused of shooting, Cole Tomas Allen, was arrested, the president seems quite impressed by his capabilities.
Of course, he’s not impressed by his shooting skills, but rather by his running speed, which Trump couldn’t help but praise. According to Brobible, Cole is suspected of speeding past the security checkpoint and shooting multiple shots towards the ballroom where the Correspondent’s Dinner was taking place. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has praised the shooter’s speed, and he has even urged the NFL that they should draft him.
He said, “His speed was rather incredible, it was like a blur…I think the NFL should sign him up. He was fast.” Judging by the CCTV footage, where Allen can be seen making a run, it’s indeed quite impressive. While the quality of the footage is nowhere near top-notch, he can still be seen speeding away from the checkpoint with the security pointing guns at him when he has already gone quite far from the location.
“I AM SPEED!” It looks like the accused Cole Tomas Allen has used his talent for the wrong purpose
The NFL players, like the new Jets draft pick, who thought his signing news was a prank call, are no joke when it comes to athleticism. At the NFL Combine, the fastest 40-yard dash times are around 4.2-4.3 seconds, which translates to 23-24MPH (34-37KPH). In comparison to a normal person, that’s way faster. This, combined with impressive weight and height, makes NFL players the fastest, strongest, and most explosive athletes in the sports scene.
Coming back to Allen, his incredible speed as seen in the footage does look NFL-level. Of course, it’s unlikely that Trump was serious about this statement, and it was seemingly his astonishment that made him urge the NFL to draft him. Cole Thomas Allen from Torrance, California, is publicly identified as the shooter who opened fire at the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
He was arrested at the scene and is held in federal custody after being charged in connection with the incident. As per NPR, “A White House official told NPR that Allen sent his family members what the White House is calling a manifesto minutes before the incident at the Hilton hotel. The document states that Allen wanted to target administration officials, the White House said. The official, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said Allen’s brother notified the police of the document. NPR has not seen any of the writings independently.”
This suggests that Cole’s motive appears to be focusing on Trump and his administration. The manifesto was shared with his family, and then they tried to inform the authorities as well. Right now, there’s no punishment announced for this accused shooter, but it looks like he has used his impressive athletic qualities for the wrong purpose.
