The definitive versions of Bungie’s Destiny will likely be on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but that doesn’t mean the studio will be phoning it in on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Our goal is to provide a game experience that is consistent for everybody
According to Bungie, the old consoles still have “a lot of headroom,” said Chris Butcher in a recent interview with Game Informer. “We have the most optimized game engine we’ve ever produced for these consoles. We’re getting at the point now where we are wringing pretty much every ounce of juice out of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.”
Butcher doesn’t see any huge discrepancies between the new consoles and the old, and that was Bungie’s gameplan all along.
“You’re basically eating the whole buffalo at this point in the current generation. And that’s been our target right from the start is to make sure that we can provide that game experience that is consistent for everybody.”
Destiny is due out this September on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
