Originally announced in late July, Gnar is now available for use as a Champion in League of Legends. Gnar is often referred to as “the Missing Link” since he was frozen in ice for over a thousand year. Awoken into the world of League of Legends he will be a formidable Champion for you in the mega-popular MOBA.

League of Legends newest Champion, Gnar, is available now

Gnar’s backstory reads “Time marches on for most, but not Gnar. A yordle born millennia ago, Gnar was captured and trapped in true ice, frozen – quite literally – in time. Civilizations formed and fell as the prehistoric yordle vacantly stared on, but nothing – not even true ice – could confine Gnar forever. After breaking free, he wandered Runeterra until he found himself taken in by his yordle descendants. But, as they would soon discover, there’s a beast behind the boy.”

Gnar is a tranforming Champion, with both a Mini and Mega form that must be mastered if you want to play him best. Riot Games provided a Champion Spotlight for the Gnar, which you can check out above. Some basic advice for the character is below:

“Gnar’s a double-headed beast best played on the edges of fights in his Mini form, and in the enemies’ midst as Mega Gnar. During the laning phase, use basic attacks and clever casts of Boomerang Throw to trigger Hyper, which chunks your opponent down and helps you stay out of range of their retaliation. Hop’s a useful ability, too, but best saved for moments when you need to flee from jungle ganks or guarantee kills against your target. As teams start grouping, Crunch into fights as Mega Gnar before using Wallop, Boulder Toss and GNAR! to burst down the enemy’s weaker damage dealers  and pummel their tanks.”

Along with Gnar becoming available to play in League of Legends came the announcement of the Dino Gnar skin. This skin alters both Mini and Mega Gnar’s look, making the already cute Mini Gnar even cuter and the formidable Mega Gnar even more terrifying. You can get the skin for 1462 RP until the end of the weekend, when the price goes up to 1950 RP.
