Square Enix surprised everyone with the announcement of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD at E3 2014. It appears the development for the game is going nicely as it’s nearly finished.
IGN had a chance to interview Final Fantasy Type-0 HD’s director Hajime Tabata. It was confirmed in the report that the game is “80% complete”. This is very good news and means a 2015 release date is entirely possible. Hopefully a release date will be confirmed at next month’s TGS.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be a full retail release. This is true as the game will still have a $60 price tag. It’s being marketed as a “new game” since Western gamers never received the PSP original. The PSP release was never localized officially by Square Enix.
IGN had a chance to see some gameplay footage of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. They mention the game isn’t visually on par with Final Fantasy XV, but this is to be expected since the game is remastered off “a game from 2011”. Not to mention it’s a game that was originally released on PSP.
Tabata didn’t elaborate further if Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be released on PS Vita. As of right now, the game is only going to be released for the PS4 and Xbox One.
