IGN has revealed the final map that will be remastered as part of Halo 2: Anniversary inside of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The map is titled Warlord and is a remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved classic Wizard, which was called Warlock in Halo 2. This is the sixth and final map to be totally remastered for the collection. The six maps in the set are Ascension, Coagulation, Lockout, Zanzibar, Warlock, and Sanctuary. Each of these will be totally remade using a new engine for the Xbox One. They will feature enhanced visuals along with small design changes meant to make the maps feel fresh while retaining their original designs.

We previously speculated about what maps would be included in Halo: The Master chief Collection and were correct up until this final reveal. We felt that Ivory Tower would be included instead of Warlock. Thinking about it I can’t help but feel a little disappointed at this inclusion. While Wizard was a fantastic map, it feels like we already have a lot of maps in the set that cover the same ground. Also, Wizard has already been remade so many times, having been included in the first Halo as well as Halo 2. Following those games it was usually featured as a Forge map, since the overall design of the level is easily recreated. I would have liked to see one of the larger and more complicated maps remastered for this set.
Thankfully all of the original maps from Halo 2 and all of the other games in Halo: The Master Chief Collection will still be playable, and in 1080p at 60FPS as well. So, even though this final map isn’t exactly what I’d hoped for, I can still hop into a match on Ivory Tower or Turf and have some fun.
