Capcom felt it was too difficult to release Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition as a physical disc outside of Japan.
If you didn’t know, Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition is coming out later this year for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. However, the game will only be available digitally in countries outside of Japan. Capcom has now somewhat explained why this is.
Capcom Unity’s Greg Moore explained more on the lack of a physical release for Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition on Twitter. Capcom didn’t refuse a disc release for Western countries, it just “didn’t pan out” he said.
Moore did say fans can import a copy of Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition if they really want a disc version. He says the game has both Japanese and English voice overs. He’s still not sure if the game has English subtitles though. At least it has English voice overs.
Moore ended his answer by saying it was “complicated” for Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition to get a physical release outside of Japan. He hopes people will still support the game regardless.
It’s odd how Capcom cannot release Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition on a physical disc to Western countries. The company was easily able to release DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition on physical discs just earlier this year…
