Rise of the Tomb Raider launched nearly two months ago as a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, with the game set to arrive on PC early this year and PS4 much later in 2016. While it was buried by big games like Fallout 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, causing Rise of the Tomb Raider to not even chart in the November NPDs, the game has now passed a big milestone.

Coming straight from Microsoft in their big announcement of how Xbox had a record holiday season, they revealed that Rise of the Tomb Raider has officially surpassed 1 million copies sold.

Microsoft wasn’t specific on the numbers, as they lumped together the announcement of a number of titles hitting at least 1 million copies sold, including Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Halo 5: Guardians.

Some reports tried to say that this was just shipped and not sold, but Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg was asked on Twitter and he confirmed it was units sold through, and that it was “well over” 1 million and that the game had a “big December.”

This is certainly great news for a game that got overlooked in the busy season, but was still one of the best games to release this year with a great story and fantastic action sequences. You can wait for the other platforms, but the game on Xbox One is fantastic in of itself, so feel free to go ahead and pick this one up.
