A deeper look at Horde Mode in Gears of War 3

The new and anticipated Horde mode is now being demoed at E3 and the changes are pretty evident. The new mode works on a cash system as players earn “skrilla” by killing enemies and consistently surviving waves. The money concept will determine how long you and your friends survive as everything has its own price including ammo, weapons, barriers, decoys, turrets and the “Silverback”, that walking mech-thing we saw during the E3 stage demo of the game.

It will also cost you skrilla to bring you and your buddies back to life should you die. An interesting addition added to the mode includes the fact that you can’t choose where to place larger support (like turrets). You simply hand over the cash and make do with its position. If the outline of it is green then you are free to purchase it.

In turn, red means that you don’t have sufficient funds and yellow designates that it needs to be repaired. We’ll have more updates for Gears 3 as they arrive.
