Infinity Ward surprised quite a few people when it announced Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare instead of revealing Ghosts 2. The developer has now given a reason why they went the different route.
AusGamers had a chance to talk to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Narrative Director (Taylor Kurosaki) and Design Director (Jacob Minkoff) and they admitted that the studio wanted to tackle something new.
Kurosaki said: “We wanted to tell a completely new story with Infinite Warfare. Our story is original and a brand new entry in the Call of Duty series. There is no connection to any previous Call of Duty games, so a new setting obviously and new cast of characters”
Even though it’s called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the game has no connection to Modern Warfare or any other COD title. Infinity Ward simply just wanted to make something new which might annoy some fans of Ghosts as that game’s campaign didn’t have a satisfying conclusion…
The two developers also said that Infinity Ward wanted to try something bold and innovative which is why the new game will take battles up into space.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare releases on November 4th, 2016 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you order the game’s Legacy Edition, you will also receive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
