While No Man’s Sky promised a lot in the time leading up to its release earlier this year, in the end most would agree that it just didn’t fulfill what was promised. Now Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has spoken about the marketing of the game, admitting that it could have been handled better.

He was speaking with No Man’s Sky lead developer Sean Murray at the Tokyo Game Show when he said the following:

“I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting, because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one. It wasn’t a great PR strategy, because he didn’t have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer. But he says their plan is to continue to develop No Man’s Sky features and such, and I’m looking forward to continuing to play the game.”

Despite the mixed reception that the game received when it launched earlier this year, the game has been selling very well as it currently sits near the top of the NPD charts.
