Watch Dogs Legion Introduces Permadeath For Playable Characters

It has been a few years since Watch Dogs 2 released, but there have been rumors for years about a London setting for the next game. This was finally revealed during the Ubisoft 2019 E3 conference today, with a very interesting game mechanic being confirmed as well in the form of permadeath.

Rather than having a specific protagonist like the previous two games, Watch Dogs Legion instead introduces an entire resistance of characters that you can play as during the game in a London that has been taken over by extremists.

Just like was leaked last week, you can switch between various characters in the game, rather than just having one player to play as in the game, which is definitely a departure from the past entries. The gameplay segment shown during the conference shows how these playable characters can die while playing, with them being permanently dead at that point too. At this point, you have to select a different character to play as after that point from the population found in the game.

This is something we never really see in gaming, so hopefully it will be executed as well as it appears in the gameplay videos shown during the conference. An idea like this is certainly ambitious, so we’ll have to wait and see when the game releases on March 6, 2020.
