5. Blast Mask
This one may seem a little redundant as it literally does the same thing as a bomb, with you acquiring it just before being able to buy the first bomb bag. However, this is one that can save you a ton of time and trouble in certain situations. With the going back in time mechanic prevalent throughout the game, you will lose all of the numbered items like bombs. If you happened to not come across any bombs and need to break down a wall, this mask will allow you to do so without any backtracking. Just remember to crouch with R to avoid any damage as a result of the blast.
4. Stone Mask
Similar to Ocarina of Time, there is a portion of the game where you must sneak past a number of Gerudo to advance the story, this time in the Pirate’s Fortress. The original Majora’s Mask release had even more use of this mask, as you could get the mask prior to entered the Fortress, but in Majora’s Mask 3D it is obtained within. Regardless, it is still insanely useful as it makes you completely invisible to most enemies in the games that aren’t bosses while wearing it. Using the Stone Mask will certainly save you a lot of time and frustration, regardless which version you are playing.
3. Bunny Hood
One of the most familiar masks in Majora’s Mask, the Bunny Hood has seen use in not only Ocarina of Time, but also the Super Smash Bros. series as an item to let the user run much faster. That is exactly what it does here in Majora’s Mask as well, which greatly makes traversing across Termina much easier, with easier controls but lesser speed than the next entry on the list.
2. Goron Mask
The Goron Mask will very quickly become one of your favorites in Majora’s Mask as soon as you get it from Darmani’s ghost. With the ability to speed around the map in Goron form and the magic powered form even being able to wreck through obstacles and enemies, you will find yourself using the Goron Mask very often as a means to get from one side of the map to another. The previously mentioned Bunny Hood is good as well, but nothing gets you places faster on ground than the Goron Mask.
1. Zora Mask
Was there really any other mask that could be number one on this list? The Fierce Deity Mask is a favorite of many, but its limited use led to it being further down on the list. The Zora however has so many uses upon obtaining it. While it has been nerfed a bit in Majora’s Mask 3D, with the fast speed now requiring magic, it is still a pure joy to use. Swimming around Great Bay can be a ton of fun and with very solid controls, it could be done for hours. I find it similar to web swinging in Spider-Man games, which is always a blast, regardless of how the game itself is. Maybe even the best part is that the Ocarina turns into a guitar when using the Zora Mask, which is just plain awesome.
