6.Day of the Tentacle: Play Maniac Mansion
Another Lucasarts classic, and two games in one! If you visit Weird Ed while playing as Bernard, you will see a console which resembles a Commodore 64. Click on it, and you will access a fully playable version of Maniac Mansion, Ron Gilbert’s first title for Lucasarts.
7.Dead Rising: Jill’s Sandwiches
Those of you who remember the iconically awful ‘You were almost a JILL SANDWICH’ line from Resident Evil will appreciate this reference in Dead Rising. You can visit a little shop called ‘Jill’s Sandwiches’ and have those immortal words ringing in your head forever.
8.GTA Vice City: Oh, it’s an actual easter egg
Grand Theft Auto is the king of hidden messages, which is probably why players were thrown off to find an ACTUAL Easter egg which reads ‘Happy Easter!’ in GTA Vice City. Another red herring of sorts occurs in San Andreas where on Gant Bridge there is a sign saying ‘There are no easter eggs here. Go away’. Ouch.
9.Fallout 4: Father Gabe
Unless you were sleeping for the majority of 2015, you will be aware that both The Walking Dead and Fallout 4 took popular culture by storm. What better way to celebrate than to combine the two? You will find Father Gabe in the cathedral situated between Kendall Hospital and the Collegiate Administration building. It might not be the most pleasant of encounters, but pretty cool nonetheless.
10.Paper Mario Murder Scene
We all know Mario right? Happy, colourful, lighthearted? This Easter egg might taint your views somewhat. In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, players can find a crime scene in the back alley of Rogueport’s main square. On the US version, it just appeared to be a burglary but in the Japanese version there is a Toad shaped chalked outline and blood on the floor. Eep.
