Star Trek is fast approaching its 50th anniversary next year and with that milestone comes the next Star Trek movie, the third of the reboot franchise. Following the mixed reception of Star Trek Into Darkness, star and now writer Simon Pegg has been teasing that the movie will be about exploration and adventure, while truly showing where no man has gone before for a new generation. With the movie not too far away from filming, a possible title for the movie has popped up that would fit Pegg’s comments.
According to TrekMovie.com, the title of the Justin Lin helmed Star Trek film will be Star Trek Beyond. They report that the name has just been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America, which is often a good sign of a movie’s title. Bad Robot has certainly had their fair share of teasing the past, but an actual registration with the MPAA would probably not be the route they would go for a false tease.
Star Trek Into Darkness ended with the crew setting off into space, which is essentially where the original series took place, so Star Trek Beyond is an incredibly fitting title. With a release set for July 8, 2016 that will return most of the cast of the last two, plus the addition of Idris Elba, we are bound to get plenty of new information this summer with not only the start of filming, but also with Comic Con.
