‘Drop you like a bad habit’: Green Day singer has a message for ICE agents before Super Bowl performance

Attention, American Idiots!

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong made a strong political statement ahead of the band’s Super Bowl performance. During a special concert in San Francisco, he told ICE agents to quit their jobs and warned them about their future.

The message came at a private concert on Pier 29 in San Francisco, sponsored by Spotify and FanDuel. The event took place two days before the Super Bowl. Armstrong showed that even a huge football event wouldn’t stop him from speaking about current issues.

According to Variety, Armstrong spoke directly to law enforcement agents from the stage. “To all the ICE agents out there, wherever you are,” he said, “quit your s—ty-a– job. Quit that s—ty job you have,” the Green Day frontman added.

He then warned the agents about how Republican leaders would treat them later. Armstrong said that when the current political situation ends, people like President Trump, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, and JD Vance are “gonna drop you like a bad f—ing habit.” He asked them to “come on this side of the line.”

Armstrong made other political references during the concert too. While playing the song Holiday, he changed the lyrics from “the representative from California has the floor” to “the representative from Epstein Island has the floor.” He dedicated that song to Minneapolis. His comments come amid ongoing discussions about the league’s official ICE statement.

During American Idiot, Armstrong changed the original words about a “redneck agenda” to “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda.” This is something he has been doing for years. Green Day has a long history of adding political messages to their music.

Green Day’s main job this weekend is performing at Super Bowl LX. The band was picked for the pre-game ceremony because of their strong connection to the Bay Area, where the game is happening. They will introduce past Super Bowl MVPs onto the field before the Seattle Seahawks play against the New England Patriots.

The game starts at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT. Green Day’s performance will likely happen in the hour before kickoff. Full pre-game coverage begins at noon ET on NBC. Charlie Puth will sing The Star-Spangled Banner, Brandi Carlile will perform America the Beautiful, and Coco Jones will sing Lift Every Voice and Sing. Bad Bunny’s halftime show has caused some debate, with conservative organizers planning their counter-performance featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, and Lee Brice.
