GoFundMe in Mickey Rourke’s name surpasses $100K goal, then the actor issues a shocking response

Dignity over donations

Mickey Rourke is telling his fans to stop donating money because he has nothing to do with the GoFundMe page created in his name. The fundraising page was set up to help the actor avoid getting kicked out of his Los Angeles home, and it has already raised over $100,000.

However, Rourke posted a video on Instagram on Monday night saying he doesn’t even know what GoFundMe is. According to TMZ, he called the whole situation frustrating and embarrassing. The actor made it clear he never asked for this help and wants nothing to do with the campaign.

Rourke didn’t hold back in his message. He told fans that if he needed money, he wouldn’t ask anyone for it. He urged people to stay away from the page and asked those who already donated to get their money back. “If I needed money I wouldn’t ask for no f***ing money. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger!” he said.

Rourke opens up about his career struggles and financial problems

In his Instagram video, Rourke talked about his career and the challenges he’s been facing. He admitted he did a terrible job managing his career and wasn’t diplomatic in his approach. The actor said he went through over 20 years of therapy to deal with damage from his past.

Rourke explained he’s worked hard to move past those issues. “I’ve done a really terrible job at managing my career. I wasn’t diplomatic. I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago. I worked very hard to work through that. I’m not that person anymore,” he said.

He confirmed he did borrow some money from a close friend to help with a financial crisis, but that’s all. Just like a woman faced shocking charges for her drink choices, Rourke faced unexpected public scrutiny over his finances.

He promised he would never ask strangers, fans, or anyone else for money. The actor also said he won’t take a single cent from the GoFundMe page. He even guessed at who might be behind the fundraiser but didn’t name anyone.

The page says it was created by someone named Liya-Joelle Jones, who claims to be the assistant to Rourke’s longtime manager, Kimberly Hines. TMZ reached out to Hines and GoFundMe for comment but hasn’t heard back yet.

Last month, reports came out that Rourke received a 3-day notice to pay rent on his Los Angeles home or face eviction. He was seen checking into a West Hollywood hotel with his dog on Sunday, but it’s not clear if he was actually evicted.
