‘Setting me up for a trap’: Justin Baldoni complained to his agent about Blake Lively’s refusal to do one thing on set

This It Ends With Us drama keeps escalating.

Justin Baldoni accused Blake Lively of trying to trap him by refusing to use a body double during sex scenes in It Ends With Us. This claim comes from newly revealed text messages between Baldoni and his agent as part of their legal fight.

According to Page Six, Baldoni sent these texts to his former William Morris Endeavor agent Danny Greenberg on December 30, 2023. In the messages, he said Lively refused to use a body double for their intimate scenes. At the same time, she wanted him to use one for his parts.

He told his agent this move was “just setting me up for a trap.” Baldoni also explained he was having a “really bad week” because Lively kept rejecting his ideas for the film’s sex scenes. She even suggested they keep all their clothes on for the main love scene, which Baldoni called “ridiculous” for anyone who read the book.

Baldoni felt drained dealing with creative control battles

Baldoni complained about the whole situation being a “gigantic cluster” and said dealing with Lively during the break was draining. He claimed she was “rewriting the writer and director” and that he was giving in to “95%” of her demands just to keep the peace. However, he called the experience “brutal.”

The actor later confirmed he would meet with Lively at her house to review her changes to the film. She insisted the meeting happen at her home. Baldoni also said Lively didn’t want Wayfarer Productions CEO Jamey Heath on set, but he was pushing back on that request. Like many workplace disputes that strip power from employees in corporate settings, the tension on set seemed to escalate over control issues.

He wrote that he was trying to stay positive and give Lively “as many wins as possible” just to finish the movie. Baldoni worried the editing process would be the biggest problem since he wouldn’t be able to give her everything she wanted.

A source close to Lively responded by saying these texts came only after she detailed how Baldoni and Heath created a hostile work environment. The source added that Baldoni had already agreed to more than a dozen safety measures for the cast and crew before these messages were sent.

The source also said the texts show Baldoni’s anger about the same safety rules he publicly called “reasonable” and “essential.” According to reports, creative differences between the two stars were a major reason for their public feud.

While Baldoni directed and produced the film, Lively also worked as a producer. She even commissioned a separate edit of the movie from an editor who worked on Deadpool & Wolverine. The situation mirrors other celebrity controversies where long-standing accusations resurface years later, though public responses vary widely.

Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024 for sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and other claims. Baldoni responded with a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, but his case was dismissed. Speaking of celebrities facing consequences, Jimmy Kimmel recently won a major award months after being pulled off air. Their trial is scheduled for May 18, 2026.
