2K Marin, the developer known for making Bioshock 2 and more recently The Burea: XCOM Declassified, has just been hit with massive layoffs, according to a source close to Polygon.

According to the source, the “majority” of the team has been let go, with a few lucky ones leaving 2K Marin to join the new 2K studios in the Bay Area headed by the former Gears of War lead and Bioshock: Infinite producer, Rod Fergusson.

According to Polygon, another source is “100 percent sure” that 2K Marin as we know it has been shut down and closed.

At least one employee took to Twitter to announce that he is currently no longer employed.

When asked, a 2K representative replied, “We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin. While these were difficult decisions, we regularly evaluate our development efforts and have decided to reallocate creative resources. Our goal to create world-class video game titles remains unchanged.”

As of yet, no word on how many employees were laid off.
