If you have Halo 5: Guardians pre-loaded and your file size is less than 40GB, then you might have trouble launching the game.

The Halo Waypoint website has noticed that you might have trouble launching the game if your pre-load for Halo 5: Guardians shows a file size of less than 40GB.

It states: If you’ve digitally pre-ordered Halo 5: Guardians on your Xbox One before September 21 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect “stub file” for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title.”

For gamers that pre-ordered the game after September 21st, you should be okay and the game will start updating itself normally. Remember there will be a 9GB day one patch.

Also, if your file size for Halo 5: Guardians is bigger than 40GB, you should be okay too. Most gamers now should see that the file size will be around 46GB.

If the file size is less than 40GB, you must delete that version and reinstall the game. That is just an incorrect stub file. Only a small number of Halo 5: Guardians owners should be affected by this.
