A widowed mother’s 13-year-old twins opposed her new relationship, and police allege she then called the man to the house to have them killed

Twin 13-year-old boys were found dead near their home in Badesra village, in India’s northern Rajasthan state, around 6 AM on Tuesday. As reported by Express, police allege that Vinay and Vishnu Chaudhary were killed because they opposed their widowed mother’s new relationship.

The boys’ mother, Preeti, her alleged lover, and her 16-year-old son have been taken into custody as authorities investigate the killings. Investigators allege that Preeti conspired to have the twins killed because they had become an “obstacle” to her relationship with a man who lives in the same village.

Police claim Preeti called the man to the family home, where he and her older son allegedly carried out the killings at her request. The 16-year-old reportedly supported his mother’s relationship, while his younger twin brothers were opposed to it.

The family started searching when the boys did not come home

Police said the boys had suffered multiple cut wounds and head injuries, and both of their throats had been slit. All three people in custody are currently being questioned by police.

The twins had left home on Tuesday morning, and family members began searching for them when they did not return for a long time, as detailed by ThePrint. Their bodies were found in a vacant plot near the house in Deeg district, where blood was also found at the scene.

Deeg Superintendent of Police Kamble S Gopinath initially said a suspect had been detained for questioning while the motive was being investigated. Investigators have reportedly since seized a sharp-edged weapon, clothing, and other evidence, while a dog squad and forensic team examined the scene.

The family had been living in Badesra after the boys’ father died several years ago. Preeti had married Niranjan Singh, from Saroth Mansa village in the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh, around 20 years ago.

The couple had four children: an 18-year-old daughter, a 16-year-old son, and the 13-year-old twins. After her husband’s death, Preeti moved with her children to her parental home in Badesra, the house of the twins’ maternal grandfather, Ghanshyam Chaudhary.

Police said the boys had suffered multiple cut wounds and head injuries, and both of their throats had been slit. All three people in custody are currently being questioned by police. Cases in which mothers are accused of killing their own children have drawn intense attention elsewhere too, including the Massachusetts mother’s murder trial over the deaths of her three young children.

Police allege that it was during this time that the twins began to oppose their mother’s relationship with another man from the same village. No public response from Preeti or the others in custody has been reported, and post-mortem reports were reportedly still awaited at the time of the latest updates.
