Today Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios have announced that the superhero Atom is joining the character roster of Injustice 2 as a DLC fighter. The powers of Atom allow him to transform his molecular structure, being able to deceive his opponents by reducing his size to a minimum, or crush them when turning into a giant. The video announcement offers a glimpse of his combat style and special techniques, showcasing some of his spectacular moves.
Here is an official overview of the character’s backstory: Physics prodigy Ryan Choi took on the mantle of the Atom when his mentor — and original Atom —Ray Palmer mysteriously disappeared. Now armed with quantum shrinking technology, Ryan will use the subatomic power of the quantum bio-belt to seek out his lost friend and further the fight for justice.
For now the developers have not revealed the release date for the DLC, although the trailer confirms that it is supposed to launch soon, which most definitely means we’ll get it before the end of the year. The studio also revealed only a few weeks ago the addition of a Mortal Kombat veteran to the roster: the iconic Raiden, who will come included in the Fighter Pack 2.
Injustice 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
