A professional baker found herself in a bizarre confrontation after wedding guests objected to the casual clothes she wore to drop off a cake. Manila, a creator who shares her experiences on TikTok, said she was only there to make a quick delivery and leave. She claimed the guests took her outfit as a sign of disrespect.
Her clothes “did not sit well with them,” Manila said, because the guests apparently considered a casual outfit disrespectful at a wedding. The situation escalated when guests began staring at her with serious, unsmiling faces.
Manila initially thought the entire interaction was a joke, so she started laughing. However, she soon realized the guests were completely serious. “They are just there, like, looking at me, not smiling, like, dead-faced,” Manila said. She tried to explain that she was there only to deliver the wedding cake, but the guests insisted her casual clothing was disrespectful.
The bride was apparently just as upset as her guests
The guests even claimed others would see her, although Manila noted that nobody else was around at the time. Things did not improve when the bride arrived to address the situation. Manila expected the bride to be more understanding about the logistics of a cake delivery, but the bride was just as upset as her guests. According to Manila, the bride said she had heard the baker was “being really rude to my guests” and did not like it.
When Manila asked what she had done to be considered rude, she was told she had given the guests attitude. The bride also focused heavily on the clothing issue. She reportedly told the baker, “This is a wedding, in case you’ve never been to a wedding before.” Manila tried to explain that she did not need to dress up for a delivery, but the bride told her, “I expect a dress.”
Wedding attire has sparked plenty of online fights before. In one case, a bride removed her best friend from the bridal party over a last-minute black dress, after the friend had agreed to wear pink.
Most commenters on the video were confused. “There is a dress code for delivery people??” one asked, while another wrote, “My intrusive thoughts would won and there be cake on the floor.” Others asked whether Manila took the cake back after the client’s comments.
Only Manila’s account of the confrontation is available, and the bride’s and guests’ side of the story could not be verified.
