As of right now, beta signups are open for Bethesda’s team-based shooter BATTLECRY. While indications are that the beta will begin this coming fall, Australian and New Zealand players are invited to an early August look. To sweeten the deal, Bethesda released a new trailer during their E3 show.
BATTLECRY amplifies team-based combat by combining visceral brutality and competitive multiplayer action to create a new free-to-play gameplay experience.’ reads text from the BATTLECRY official site. ‘Choose your warrior – each with a meaningfully distinct suite of attacks and abilities – from one of several factions from diverse parts of the world. With strategy, brutal attacks, and unique weapons, fight for power and glory in 32-player battles across the WarZones.
Currently, the game is undergoing a closed alpha, but the footage shown looks promising for fans of team-based shooters — Team Fortress 2 fans in particular will see a lot of familiar ground covered in terms of the game’s outlandish weaponry and its crisp, bright map design. BATTLECRY was recently put to the test at an inaugural tournament at Quakecon. A full release is slated for late this year, though nothing more specific has yet been announced.
