Battlefield 4 on PS4 could get keyboard and mouse support

by William Schwartz

Apparently DICE is keeping all options open when it comes to features for Battlefield 4 on PS4. While console gamers on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will get the “true” Battlefield experience this fall with increased player counts in multiplayer matches and better graphics, PS4 players might be getting keyboard and mouse support.

If it makes sense for a Battlefield game, we’ll consider it, says DICE

According to a recent interview, DICE is keeping its options open for the feature. When asked whether or not the PS4 would have keyboard and mouse support in an interview out of E3 2013, DICE’s Aleksander Grondal hints at the possible feature for console gamers.

“We have mouse and keyboard support for the PC obviously, but I can’t speak now specifically for next-gen consoles. But, if it makes sense in the Battlefield universe, for a Battlefield game, we’ll consider it.”

Who knows what types of measuring stick DICE would use to make such a determination, but it’s probably safe to assume that console players do most of their gaming from the comfort of a couch or chair of some sort. Not necessarily the best set-up for a traditional mouse and keyboard. And the issue of fairness would probably crop up for console players. With the keyboard and mouse combo being more accurate and faster than a controller, KBM players might have a bit of an advantage.

We’ll have to wait and see. Would you use a keyboard and mouse to play BF4 on your PS4?
