For years fans have begged Xbox head Phil Spencer to give them a new Battletoads game and finally their dreams are about to come true. Announced last year with just a title screen we now have some real gameplay to go along with the title. And for fans of the original, there isn’t much more they can ask for than what we saw at E3 2019 with this first gameplay reveal for Battletoads on Xbox One.
“They’re Back!” The trailer begins, giving fans exactly what they’ve been asking for all these years. A couch co-op enabled beat-em-up title with colorful, cel-shaded graphics that fits perfectly with the Battletoads franchise. And yes, there’s even vehicle segments. Although we all should hope they’re a bit more beatable than the original NES classic’s.
Battletoads has sort of been a meme among gamers over the years, as they pushed for a return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles clones (yeah, I said it). This was just one of the games that’s said to be part of “The Largest Showcase of Games this Year,” as promised by Spencer. And of course, as with most big Xbox One titles these days, Xbox Game Pass members will be able to play it on launch for free.
