Treyarch will offer Black Ops 2 players on the PS3 the option to install a texture pack on the console’s HDD. Â The texture pack will not improve the visuals like it has with other games in the past. Â This optional install is aimed at at relieving some pressure from the Blu-Ray disc, according to Treyarch.
The Black Ops 2 PS3 texture pack install is said to be a result of demand from Call of Duty fans on the console. Â Logging in so many hours playing the shooter, they’ve complained of burnt-out Blu-Ray drives as a result. There’s still no word on the size of this install or the specific performance enhancements that installing the content will achieve outside of the stress reduction.
The company hasn’t announced that any other platform would be seeing an optional install for Black Ops II. Â Treyarch is set to release the latest version of Call of Duty on November 13th, 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U.
