Neither Microsoft nor Activision has officially confirmed that Call of Duty WWII will feature improvements for soon to arrive Xbox One X. Â Some seem to think this is because of a timed exclusivity deal with PlayStation for downloadable content, but it appears that the game will indeed feature Xbox One X Enhancements.
Box art for the Xbox One version of Call of Duty WWII has been discovered that includes logos on the packaging that reveal the game will run in 4K, feature HDR, and will otherwise be deemed as “Xbox One X Enhanced.”
Microsoft recently explained what Xbox One X Enhanced was, and released a list of over a 100 games that would see improvements specifically for the console, though Call of Duty WWII was not on that list. Â This led many to wonder whether or not the game would see upgrades for the console.
Looking at the list of Xbox One X Enhanced titles, Call of Duty WWII is still nowhere to be found. Â The box art does suggest that it will be though.
Other users who have access to a version of the Xbox One dashboard are saying that there are a number of Call of Duty games that will see Xbox One X Enhancements. Â These include Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Battlefield 1.
This could be good news for third party games and developers that have strong ties to Sony through arrangements such as the one with Call of Duty. Â Bungie is another developer who has been quiet on the exact enhancements that Destiny 2 will see on the console, but perhaps it will be similar to the situation that we’re seeing with Call of Duty WWII.
As Microsoft has revealed, it’s going to be up to the developer as to how they use the power of the console. Â Call of Duty WWII is set for a November 3rd release on all platforms, but the Xbox One X isn’t due out until a little bit later on November 7th.
