Today (August 8), Nintendo held a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct stream, in which some new details about the highly anticipated game were revealed. Some of these new details included new fighters that will be playable in the game. And some of these new fighters include Echo Fighters.
During the stream, it was revealed that Chrom from the Fire Emblem series and Dark Samus from the Metroid series will be Echo Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Chrom is an Echo Fighter based on Roy’s moveset while Dark Samus is based on Samus. For those who haven’t been keeping up with Smash news, Echo Fighters are fighters whose movesets are mostly the same as another character, with some mostly aesthetic differences. Other Echo Fighters include Lucina, an Echo Fighter of Marth, Dark Pit, an Echo Fighter of Pit, and Daisy, an Echo Fighter of Peach. It was also revealed that players will be able to decide whether Echo Fighters will appear as their own characters on the character select screen or if they will be stacked on top of the character they’re based on.
The stream also revealed that Castlevania‘s Simon Belmont will join as a fighter, with Richter joining as Simon’s Echo Fighter. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will launch on the Nintendo Switch on December 7.
