From Software has published the Dark Souls 3 Network Stress Test on the PlayStation Store. This demo lets players enjoy a portion of the game, which will launch in April 2016. The point is to stress test the servers that manage Dark Souls 3’s multiplayer component. Unfortunately, while you can download and install the beta, actually running it just results in an error message at this time.

“This is the DARK SOULS III Network Stress Test. Our intent for the network testing is to have players play and test a portion of the game prior to its official release. By carrying out large scope network stress testing, we hope to better prepare for the game’s online system functionality. Our aim is for improved game play experiences based on this test, and the part taking of this test play will be for free. We really appreciate the support and assistance provided.”

The Dark Souls 2 Network Stress Test is a PlayStation Plus exclusive at this time, so you’ll need to be a member if you want to try out a portion of the upcoming game. The planned release date for the beta was October 13th, so the servers will likely go live then. Until that happens you’ll keep getting error messages when trying to play the game.

Dark Souls 3 will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC in April 2016.
