Toby Fox has announced through Twitter and the official Deltarune website that Deltarune Chapter 2 is officially releasing on September 17th on PC and Mac! Officially, the game will be released at 8 PM EST, available to download on the official Deltatune website. Chapter 2 has been long teased for over a year now, with various development updates and screenshots shared to hold over fans while development was underway. Now, it seems that everything has finally wrapped up and the game is ready to be played by the millions of fans it has!
Deltarune Chapter 1 was released on October 30th, 2018 across PC, and later Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The last update for Deltarune was back in September 2020, besides some minor updates here and there on Twitter. This announcement for Chapter 2’s release was revealed at the end of the Undertale 6th Anniversary Stream, which was a collaboration between FanGamer and Toby Fox that aired earlier tonight. The stream was mainly Toby and others at Fangamer playing through Chapter 1 of Deltarune while discussing Undertale and other things like Deltarune and personal life.
Is Chapter 2 the End?
The website states “There are planned to be more chapters than Chapter 2. However, we’ve only completed Chapter 2 so far, so please be patient”. Luckily, it seems that even after this chapter Deltarune still has a lot longer to go, which is nothing but fantastic news for fans. Deltarune Chapter 1 was released back in 2018, meaning that it took around 3 years for Chapter 2 to release. We should be expecting Chapter 3 to release in the next 2-3 years following this schedule.
As of now, Deltarune Chapter 2 will launch only on PC and Mac for now, but looking back at Chapter 1 we can expect it to follow suit to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 later on.
