Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age released last September for PS4 and PC to rave reviews, though Nintendo Switch owners were left waiting for the previously announced version on that platform. The Square Enix E3 conference last night simply stated that the game was coming this fall, but the Nintendo Direct for E3 revealed that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition S is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 27.
Rather than just being a port to the Nintendo Switch, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition S is so much more than that. In Japan, the game also released for Nintendo 3DS with a top down classic 2D visual style that we never got in the West at all. This game includes that as an option for playing as well, which really pushes the idea of it being the definitive version.
Those who have complained about the soundtrack in the original will also be happy here, as this one will have a fully orchestrated soundtrack option to change it from the more classic style that the PS4 and PC releases had.
Look for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition S to release for Nintendo Switch on September 27.
