After a brief appearance yesterday on the PlayStation Store, Driveclub PS Plus Edition will officially be releasing tomorrow, June 25th. It appears that someone jumped the gun a little bit with the release yesterday, which was quickly removed. Though it seems the additional wait wasn’t too bad, tacking on a mere two days for those that missed the extremely brief window.

“After a lot of hard work from the team at Evolution Studios,” reads the official announcement on the PlayStation Blog. “I’m pleased to announce that we are making the Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition available to all PlayStation Plus members starting on Thursday, 25th June.”

This will be a phased rollout it seems, with all PS Plus members able to download the game and play in offline mode. Online multiplayer will be opened up to different groups of players throughout the day, possibly going longer depending on the servers.

“Starting Thursday, we will be rolling out online access to the Driveclub PS Plus Edition and will steadily bring more and more players online while continuously ensuring that all game systems are running smoothly. We know that this might be frustrating after your extra wait already, but hope you can understand that we are taking extra precautions to protect your experience when you do get online. We want to make sure we don’t overload the servers as we invite millions of PS Plus members to download the game tomorrow.”

Given the reasons behind the multi-month delay for the free version of the game, this seems like a prudent measure. Originally Driveclub PS Plus Edition was supposed to launch alongside the main game in October. However, server issues, along with in-game bugs, caused the team to push it back indefinitely.
