UPDATE 2: The interview is now available in its entirety.

UPDATE: Our full rundown of the gameplay demo can be found here. The interview will be up later today so keep checking for that.

At E3 2015 this week we got to check out a behind closed doors preview of the hugely anticipated Dark Souls 3. Series Creator Hidetaka Miyazaki walked us through the 30 minute demo, pointing out key changes coming to the series.

Afterward I got to chat with Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Global Brand Manager Mike Chang about the title. The full interview is coming soon, but while we get that prepared, I wanted to give you all a small taste of the info he shared with us about Dark Souls 3.

When asked how Dark Souls 3 compares to the previous titles, specifically would it play more like the first or second games in the series, Chang responded “He (meaning series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki) doesn’t want to take just one and two and mash them up into a giant Dark Souls 3 game. He wanted to take the best of each of the games and bring them back, such as interconnected worlds, certain types of gameplay elements. So, this wants to be crafted as the best of the three.”

After actually getting to see the game in action myself I can certainly say that it is heading toward this goal. Things like seeing a huge castle in the distance and knowing that you can go there and explore that, or watching as enemies sneak attack the player, resulting in a quick death. Dark Souls 3 is shaping up to be the crowning achievement of the Dark Souls series, when it releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Early 2016.

Be sure to check back for our full impressions, and the entire interview with Mike Chang very soon.
