It appears filming for Star Wars: Episode 8 is set to finish later this month. Mark Hamill confirmed this while replying to a fan via Twitter.

The fan asked Hamill if he could say anything about Star Wars: Episode 8. Hamill replied with: “It wraps on Friday July 22nd 2016“. This is the last day that the bulk of the main cast members will be on set. After that, it’s a long process for post production as the CGI and other special effects will be added in.

Bear in mind, the cast could always be called in to do re-shoots or any other scenes. However, Hamill did note earlier that he’ll be on a bit of a break after filming wraps up. There is a chance he’ll do voice work in the meantime until he’s needed next for Episode 9.

We might hear some Star Wars: Episode 8 news later this month as Rian Johnson is attending the Star Wars Celebration Europe event. He is part of a special panel that includes other filmmakers working on other Star Wars projects.

It’s a long wait for Star Wars: Episode 8 as it won’t be out until December 2017. For now, fans can look forward to Rogue One which is out in December 2016.
