Take Two has released its financial report for the second quarter of the fiscal year, containing numbers obtained from July to September. Grand Theft Auto Online’s continued strong performance and the successful launch of NBA 2K18 made the company increase its revenue beyond expectations. The company gave some updated information about its main titles, such as the combined shipments and digital sales of the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto V, which have now passed 85 million worldwide. A massive achievement for the game which is one of the best selling videogames of all time. NBA 2K18 has shipped 6 million copies worldwide.

The company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick explained the results highlighting the performance of GTA and NBA 2K18: “Our positive momentum continued in the second quarter, enabling Take-Two to deliver another period of better-than-expected operating results. Grand Theft Auto Online delivered its best quarter yet, Net Bookings from Grand Theft Auto V grew year-over-year, and we enjoyed the successful launch of NBA 2K18, which generated growth in both units sold and recurrent consumer spending.”

The GTA Online platform is seen as one of the reasons GTAV has enjoyed such a continued popularity since its original release in 2013. In fact, the game is still just outside the top10 best selling games in this week’s UK charts. Some of the most recent updates for GTA Online include Smuggler’s Run, and the Special Halloween.

Take Two expects to keep its momentum thanks to upcoming releases from Rockstar Games like L.A. Noire for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this month, and especially Red Dead Redemption 2 for PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, which their forecast suggests it will grant the company record revenue that fiscal year.
