Rumors have swirled for a while that the highly anticipated PC release of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) would be delayed, but Rockstar was always quick to deny them. However, it seems that the rumors were on-point as today they have announced a delay from the original January release date all the way to March 24th, 2015. This is a bit strange to see as the original release date was only two weeks away as of this announcement, meaning Rockstar was really pushing right up to the end trying to avoid this.

Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be

Apparently the delay is being made to give the game some extra polish with the developer stating “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.”

This delay also means that console players will get to play the new Heists in GTA Online before PC players even get their hands on the game. Rockstar clarified by saying “GTA Online for PC, which will support up to 30 players, will launch alongside GTAV for PC and will include GTA Online Heists. Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch.”

Along with this news came the first screenshots from the PC version, one of which can be seen above, as well as the minimum and recommended PC system requirements, which can be seen below,
