Halo: Nightfall is one of the many things you will get as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The live-action series will set the stage for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, by introducing us to the new character of Agent Locke. With the involvement of Ridley Scott, the series always looked like it could be something special. However, aside from a few images and a “first-look” video we didn’t really get a sense of what the show was about. Now we do thanks to the first official trailer, which was released today.

The trailer expands a lot on the story details given in that first-look video, showing Agent Locke take on a mission that could change the fate of the human race. The story takes place between the events of Halo 4 and 5, so we should get to see more of the post-war universe. It looks like humanity’s worries are far from over though, with some type of artifact being used to possibly cause widespread death and destruction. “Halo: Nightfall introduces a pivotal new character, Jameson Locke, a legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Earth’s most powerful and secretive military branch. When he and his team are caught in a horrific biological attack, they unravel a plot that draws them to an ancient, hellish artifact, where they will be forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives.
Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall is Locke’s origin story which will lend insight and understanding into the character he becomes in Halo 5: Guardians.”
