Adam Driver has now talked about how he landed the big role of Kylo Ren in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens.

Esquire interviewed Driver and he spoke a little bit on how he landed the role of Kylo Ren.

Driver got a call from his agent while he was on the set of the TV show Girls. The call was about JJ Abrams as the director wanted to meet with Driver.

Driver flew to Los Angeles to meet up with Abrams in a “get to know you” kind of meeting. He said after that meeting, “that was it“. There may have been more details, although he’s not willing to share much about it yet.

If you are to interview Driver in the future before Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens comes out, don’t ask him about the story. He said he is not allowed to share anything about the story of the movie or else he’d “be shot“.

This is the main reason why we haven’t heard any official details of the Kylo Ren character apart from his name. Not to mention Driver said little when the cast appeared at Comic Con last month.

However, Driver surprisingly said filming Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens didn’t feel like a “blockbuster”. He said it was like making an indie film, but with a bigger budget. He alluded to the fact that Abrams is more about the “character and story” more than just all special effects all of the time.
