‘I Honestly Cried’: Woman’s Luke Combs Halloween Costume Goes Viral, But It’s The Comment Section That Made Her Lose It

We’ll remember her that way.

Kathy Leanos had no idea if people at her local bar would even know who she was dressed as for Halloween. The 28-year-old from Downey, California, picked Luke Combs as her costume because the bar had a country music theme that night. She really wanted to win the costume contest.

According to People, She bought what she needed online: a fake beard, a Columbia shirt, and a toy microphone. Leanos waited until the actual day of the party to put everything on for the first time. Her sister printed out the cover of Luke Combs’ Getting Old album and laminated it so Kathy could hold it up if nobody could figure out her costume.

Once she had everything on, including a camo hat and the beard, she filmed herself lip-syncing to Combs’ song 1, 2 Many and posted it on TikTok. That was on Sunday, October 12. The video took off fast and now has 1.2 million views. Things got even better when the official Luke Combs TikTok page left a comment. That’s when Leanos got really emotional. “I honestly cried a little when I saw Luke’s team had commented on my TikTok,” she said.

The Comment Section Is Pure Gold

Luke Combs’ official page wrote: “Kathy you ATE with this 👏🤣 10/10 no notes.” Her sister had to wake her up to break the news that the video was blowing up. Leanos didn’t think it was real until she looked at her phone and saw hundreds of notifications.

What really made her and her family laugh was reading all the comments. Tons of people started joking about when she’d start touring. A user named Vanessa Ramirez wrote, “Close enough.. can we get some concerts on the west coast?!” Someone called MAMACOURT333 said, “Close enough. Go on tour.” Another person just asked, “So when’s the concert??”

Halloween has always been a big deal for Leanos. She loves dressing up and doing full cosplay every year. She also helps her friends and family put together their costumes and does special effects makeup. She says Halloween is one of her favorite holidays because she can be as creative as she wants.

Since she’s a huge Disney fan, her best costume before this one was Minnie Mouse. But the Luke Combs look is now a close second place. She really pushed herself to make it work because she was set on winning that contest. Like many creative fans who find unique ways to celebrate their favorite artists, Eminem’s daughter recently made her own announcement that left fans grateful.

Leanos never expected things to go this far. “I thought the views and likes were going to stop,” she said, “but in under 48 hours I hit 1 million views on two of my videos and I’m still in shock to this day.” While some people get creative with costumes, others have used unexpected items in surprising situations, proving that creativity can show up in many forms.
