A musician on TikTok shared how he stopped two home invaders using just his water bottle. Binoy, who uses the name @binoymusic on the app, posted a video on TikTok telling the whole story after people started talking about it online.
The musician was sitting on some pillows near his patio door around 9 p.m. on a summer night when things got scary. He saw the patio door handle start to move. “As I was trying to arm [the alarm], I could literally see the door handle going, like. Like, violently shaking,” he said in the video. The alarm went off right after he turned it on.
He looked around for something to use to protect himself and grabbed his Owala water bottle, which he said was “the closest thing to me undented at the time.” The glass on his patio door started to crack and break. Through the cracking glass, he saw two men wearing hoodies. One of them had a long pick and a hammer. Even though he only had a water bottle, Binoy decided to open the door and go outside.

When one of the men came at him, Binoy swung the bottle and hit him on the temple, then hit him again on the side of his head. The bottle’s handle broke during the fight, and the man pushed him against a wall. But Binoy grabbed the bottle again and hit the man several more times on the top of his head. The man stumbled back and started trying to climb back over the fence.
After it was over, Binoy threw the backpack that one of the men dropped over the fence before calling the police. He didn’t want them coming back for it. The police showed up soon after and made sure everyone was okay.
The video blew up on TikTok, getting more than 8.5 million views and 1.4 million likes. A lot of people said Binoy did a good job thinking fast, but some told others not to try fighting intruders themselves. The official Owala account left a comment saying “Stay safe and hydrated. Can’t wait to plan your weekend getaway, you deserve it.”
People had a lot to say in the comments. One person wrote “This is how a brand wins the internet” and another said “I’m gonna go buy one because that is so sweet of them.” Someone else joked “Owala sales after this video” with laughing emojis.
Another person added “The burglars after seeing this video, knowing you’ll be gone all weekend” with a laughing emoji. Just like how an influencer’s mom went viral for what she did, Owala’s reply has made this scary moment into something everyone’s talking about online.
Binoy also posted video from his doorbell camera showing the end of the fight. He finished his video by thanking Owala “for low-key saving my life” and told everyone to stay safe, showing that scary things can happen when you least expect them.
