‘I’m not a sleeper’: President doubles down on never sleeping after being caught red-handed on camera

Sleeping is a luxury for presidents.

President Donald Trump has said he hardly gets any sleep, after videos showed him appearing to fall asleep during important White House meetings. He made these comments while meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman this week, when a reporter asked him how he manages his busy schedule.

According to Unilad, Trump has been getting a lot of heat on social media lately because several videos show him with his eyes closed during public events. The biggest one happened when he was announcing new plans to lower the cost of weight loss drugs. In the video, Trump looks like he’s slumped over in his chair with his eyes shut while Dr. Oz is talking next to him. There’s also another video from May that shows something similar during a trip to Saudi Arabia.

When the reporter asked about how he handles his time, Trump made it clear he doesn’t think sleep is important. “He does not sleep much, and I don’t sleep much. I think we have the same schedule,” Trump said, talking about himself and the Crown Prince. “If you sleep a lot and you’re president … no, he’s not a sleeper, I’m not a sleeper, what else?”

People are noticing the double standard here

What makes this whole thing interesting is that Trump used to make fun of Joe Biden all the time for “sleeping all the time” when Biden was president.

California Governor Gavin Newsom jumped on this and started calling Trump “Dozy Don” on social media after the November 6 video came out. Trump is actually older now than Biden was when Biden became president in 2020, so people are throwing the same jokes back at him.

The White House is not happy about any of this and says Trump was definitely not asleep. They put out a statement saying the president was awake the whole time and even answered questions from reporters during the event.

They said the real story should be about how the new policy will help Americans save money on important medications. The White House called the media coverage a “garbage narrative” and blamed the “failing, liberal media” for caring more about how Trump looked instead of what he was actually announcing. This isn’t the first time the administration has pushed back against criticism of Trump in recent months.

The whole point of the meeting was supposed to be about making weight loss drugs cheaper for people. If the plan goes through, people would pay $149 a month for pills and $249 for shots. But nobody really paid attention to that because of the sleeping video and because someone at the meeting actually fainted and needed help from doctors.

Even though the White House keeps saying Trump wasn’t sleeping, the videos keep getting shared all over the internet. People keep pointing out that Trump says he never sleeps but there are now multiple videos of him looking like he’s asleep at work.

His comments about not needing much sleep probably won’t make people stop talking about it, as even some of his allies have found themselves distancing from controversial moments.
