‘It’s in the entire thing’: Florida woman lifts the foil lid on her Chipotle bowl. Then she points to every bug she sees in the lettuce and guacamole

Not the most appetizing view!

A Florida woman filmed herself during a lunch break after she said she opened a Chipotle order and found what she described as bugs and a worm inside. Clay Theatre, who posts on TikTok as @theclaytheatre, shared the video that has gained more than a million views. On-screen text in the clip read, “Chipotle in Fleming Island on 220 ruined my whole day.”

In the video, she sits at a desk with a laptop and a Chipotle paper bag nearby. She rests her hand on a closed foil container and asks viewers, “Do you want to see the most disgusting thing ever?” She then lifts the foil lid and points to the underside. She says, “Oh, even on the lid is a bug.”

She points to a bug in the lettuce and explains her first reaction. She states, “At first I saw just this bug right here, and I was like calculating, well, should I just pick it out? Cuz I was so hungry.” The video caption reads, “Not my normal wedding content but literally Chipotle has ruined my whole week.”

Creator points out multiple issues inside the bowl

Clay Theatre zooms closer and points to something in the lettuce that she identifies as a worm. She says, “That is a worm right there.” She then points to numerous small dark specks across the lettuce and guacamole. She states, “All those dots are bugs. Bug, bug, bug, bug. Literally.”

She pans across the bowl and says, “It’s in the entire thing.” She adds that “Even the guac is brown.” She concludes by saying, “I’ve never seen such a thing before. Oh my God.” Other Chipotle customers have shared complaints too, like a South Carolina woman who spent over $10 on one burrito.

Viewers offered reactions that ranged from observations about the food’s appearance to broader concerns about the restaurant chain. One commenter noted a detail visible in the bowl and wrote, “The lettuce also looks slimy.”

Several viewers linked the video to their existing views on the chain. One commenter said, “This is why I have always been a proud chipotle HATER.” Another asked, “why are we still eating chipotle.” A fourth wrote, “That’s why I NEVER get the lettuce from chipotle.”

One commenter expressed strong disapproval of what the video showed and urged further action. They wrote, “dude WHAT that is UNACCEPTABLE. Call the health department pleaseeee. I also hope you got a fat refund.”

Another viewer compared the situation to a separate incident involving their family and stated, “Bugs are better than a fingernail. My daughter had a fingernail in her chipotle. And she found out because IT WAS IN HER MOUTH!”

According to the FDA, harmful bacteria in soil or water where produce grows can contaminate fruits and vegetables. The same guidance states that fresh produce may also become contaminated after harvest during storage or preparation. It explains that washing under running water can reduce bacteria that may be present but will not eliminate them.

The guidance recommends choosing produce that is not bruised or damaged and refrigerating pre-cut or packaged items. It advises storing perishable items such as lettuce at 40°F or below. It also says many pre-washed bagged produce items can be used without further washing if the packaging states they are ready-to-eat, provided they do not touch unclean surfaces.

In a comment on the video, the creator mentioned that she received a partial refund from DoorDash.

As of this writing, Chipotle has not addressed this video publicly. The article has been written solely based on what the customer claimed in her video.
