Halfbrick’s popular free to play runner title Jetpack Joyride has finally arrived on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. The PlayStation Network version of of this title includes all of the previously released content that arrived on the iOS and Android versions of the game, which includes the mission based leveling system and multitude of gadgets to use.

Jetpack Joyride on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita is a free-to-play title that includes trophy support, and is supported by in-game purchases similar to the other mobile versions of the game.

Jetpack Joyride is one of the first to usher in a free-to-play era on the PlayStation Network. These types of games are funded completely by in-game microtransactions that can enhance the experience. While it’s too early to tell if this will become a big trend on consoles like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in 2013, it’s sure nice to see that the barriers to free-to-play titles on these consoles is starting to crumble.
