The wait has been real for Just Cause 3 players since the game launched on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the beginning of December. Exceedingly long loading times have tamped down on the enjoyment of the over the top action open-world action game. Avalanche Studios is releasing a new 1.02 patch this week to alleviate the wait time and fix other issues.

An Avalanche Studios rep with the curious handle of FistofZeno shared the patch 1.02 details for Just Cause 3 on the game’s Reddit forum Wednesday. The patch is available for the PlayStation 4 in Europe as well as the PC version on Steam. PS4 owners in other regions and the Xbox One owners should expect to receive the surprisingly light 132mb update by the end of the week.

The latest Just Cause 3 patch significantly improves loading times, according to the patch notes. It also includes the following:

  • Optimizations to online stats
  • General stability fixes
  • Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
  • Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up [PC Only]

Just Cause 3 players should not expect this patch to fixes to items such as the stuttering problem and memory leak issue when playing the game for extended periods. FistofZen states “this update is part of a much larger plan to optimize and improve the game.”

In other words, expect plenty more patch updates in the coming weeks and months.
