A caterer who posts on TikTok as Caite Eats shared a self-filmed video from her car in which she described catering a wedding she called the worst of the century. On-screen text in the clip read “Wedding job from HELL.” She stated that the bridezilla situation is real, but she said it becomes even more difficult when the bride’s mother-in-law acts as if the wedding is her own.
Caite said she has done over 3,000 events in 11 years, including 300-and-some-odd weddings. She claimed this was the only wedding where she cried, and she explained that she legitimately cried more because she was so frustrated. She added that the mother-in-law was going to bring the literal ghetto out of her, and she said she wanted to stay professional in her words but decided to tell the story anyway.
She catered a wedding for 120 guests with a simple family-style or buffet setup, including a 6-foot grazing station. She stated that the contract called for them to be there for 4.5 hours doing service. Caite showed a panning shot of the charcuterie board and described it as coming out decent and pretty stacked with items such as grapes, berries, cheeses, crackers, dips, and other foods.
Caterer describes late arrival and public questions about restocking the board
Caite said the mother of the groom came late, after 85 people had already eaten the charcuterie for 35 minutes during cocktail hour. She stated that the woman approached her in the middle of everyone, with about 20 people around, and asked if she was going to replenish all the stuff. Caite said she replied that there was still stuff to be picked at and that she was not going to replenish because that is not what they do.
She claimed the mother said it says till 4 o’clock to replenish the charcuterie. Caite stated that she is the one who makes the contracts and that she has done around 170 charcuteries, none of which she replenishes as she goes because it is a flat lay. She explained that she literally lays it down, whoever eats it eats it, and she does not go and replenish cheeses and grapes and crackers and dips unless it is in the contract, which she said it was not.
Caite said she had extra crackers, so she put them on the side and called it no big deal. She stated that everyone else was ecstatic, taking pictures and loving it, with plates filled to the brim. She claimed the mother was p—-d and told everyone that it should have been replenished, but she said other guests responded that it actually looked really good and that they liked it.
She explained that time went by and they were behind schedule, which she said is fine because she can accommodate if people are nice. Caite said she and her three employees went up in the buffet line to serve, and guests were coming up and saying they could not wait to get a second. She noted that the buffet was by table, and tables 7 through 11 came up.
Caite stated that the mother came up in the middle of the line in front of like 17 or 20 people that were waiting and asked if she could have another plate of food because she needed to get it for somebody. She said she replied yes and asked what the woman would like and if she liked the food. Caite claimed the mother said “absolutely not” and “I did not like anything.”
She described withholding the spatula and saying okay while people with plates looked at her. Caite stated that the mother was saying that she hates it and it is trash, and she said there is a better place and time to say that. She explained that she handled it as best she possibly could and apologized to the people on the side of her, who she said replied that they get it.
Caite said she was shaking so much that apparently the mother’s sister came up and asked if she was okay. She stated that the sister basically sided with her and that she does not think they get along.
Caite claimed the mother basically told everyone that everyone was doing a bad job, and she said the woman b—–d and complained about everybody, including the event planner, a coordinator, and their staff. Family tension like this can run deep at weddings, much like when a sister-in-law excluded her from the wedding over fears of being upstaged.
She explained that she knew a lot because the woman told her too much when they met three or four times over a year and a half. Caite said she had angst and “Knew that this woman was going to be disastrous” today, and she stated that she was so right. She claimed the mother not only went in the middle of the wedding and said that she sucks, but she added that after this b–ch told her that she basically suck a– in front of everybody, she still offered to cut the cake.
Caite said she does not mind cake cutting and does it for more than 75 percent of her weddings. She stated that they said they had staff for it, but they were not even comfortable doing it, so she offered with her own staff. The video ends with her saying she goes to get the cake and “Let me show you.”
Several viewers shared thoughts on the video. One commenter who works in events expressed that replenishing is uncommon. They wrote, “I work in events, never seen a grazing table replenished.” Another person suggested clearer contract language. They wrote, “You literally need to write in the contract “Charcuterie board will not be replenished”.”
A third commenter advised limiting communication. They wrote, “Put in your contract that you’ll only deal with the bride or groom and no one else. You’re better than me I would have made a scene and left.”
Attack of the Fanboy could not independently verify the claims made in this video. The groom’s mother has not addressed the video publicly as of this writing.
